LARGE SCALE SOAK STAIN ABSTRACTS ON RAW CANVAS

Flora Saldivar is a Mexican American abstract painter who explores color, movement, and texture in her work. Based in the American Ozarks, her artistic process balances an organic, "happened quality" with a deliberate composition to capture emotions on large-scale raw canvases.
Driven by her passion for innovation, Saldivar developed the Verso-Infundo method, which uses both sides of the canvas to create remarkable depth and what she calls "ghost layers." In her Fayetteville studio, she creates custom gouache blends for her soak stain technique, a method that provides fluid application and vibrant pigments while preserving the raw canvas. Her "bleeding colors" technique, where a dominant hue appears to shed another, showcases her mastery of color and her commitment to one-of-a-kind art. Saldivar’s work is a direct reflection of her cultural heritage, which began with a childhood in Mexico City surrounded by skilled artisans, vibrant colors, and organic materials.
Her pieces are held in permanent collections at OZ Art NWA, The Walton Arts Center, Sterling Bank, and Blakeman's.
She was recently recognized by Artsy as an "Artist on the Rise."
